Looking at getting some American Classic Aero3 420 wheels but a number of people have mentioned using them in windy conditions is not idea.

Anyone have any experience of using an aero wheelset in cross wind conditions.

Never used them ,but told they can be horrible in the wind.

If I used Zipp 808s or 404s in my neck of the woods ,I would be off the bike.simples.

I've been blown sideways across the road ,and felt the bike being blown from under me ,using standard rim Mavics.Puts the wind right up you.

Not for windy days.and windy days are few and far between on a bike

Generally depth is a non issue on a rear wheel. Front wheel depth can prove problematical if it's windy.

How heavy are you? The lighter you are they more it will bother you.

I see they are only 34mm deep which in the grand scheme of aero wheels is not much. And should be easily managed in all but the windiest of conditions.

For reference I'm only 60kg and comfortably ride a 60mm front on my TT bike in most conditions.

Hope that helps

I've had 50mm carbon wheels before, without problem. You get blown a bit more than on 25mm wheels, but it's not like riding a kite.
