In reply to Henry Iddon:

The Grindleford Goat sportive was longer and had more 10% more climbing although no cobbled sections the last ~3.35 mile, 800 foot climb was ~63 miles in just to hammer you before the end.

If I'd known about this Cheshire ride I'd have been tempted to have a go at it.

Looks great. Fell racing that w/e but I've thought before it would be good to try and link up some Cheshire cobbles and now someone's done it for us. Enjoyed Crossjunkie's Ronde van Oost Lancashire along similar lines.
In reply to Henry Iddon:

Looks great. Recon id be ok on slick 23s? Dont think i got clearance for 25s

That's probably only one very short section on the bend of some hairpin.

In reply to Double Knee Bar:

I've done Flanders on 23's so you'd be fine.

engage great granny gear !
In reply to Henry Iddon:

Cheers mate, good to know! Planning on that next year.
In reply to Henry Iddon:

> engage great granny gear !

In old money a 24 inch gear equals two feet!

Ta for the heads up on this. Looking forward to it.
Will be lethal if it rains though!

In reply to Henry Iddon:

Anyone know where this corkscrew climb is ?
In reply to Chris the Tall:

The map suggests it's somewhere just west of Jenkin Chapel at the bottom of Pym Chair.
In reply to Chris the Tall:

See this for location of corkskrew:

Comment on it makes for good reading, stream at top and bottom, not advisable on road bike.
Will be a good laugh!
In reply to Henry Iddon:

Looks like good fun (in some sense of the word) but, "everyone who completes the course will be presented with a full-sized commemorative cobblestone, reclaimed from the very same roads that the event passes over!", doesn't exactly sound sustainable to me.

In reply to Henry Iddon:

More details on the route - http://club.v-sprint.com/cheshire-cobbled-classic/

Won't be able to make it, and even if I could I think my record of broken spokes would make in inadvisable, but I'm tempted to go and find them and ride them - possibly on my hardtail!
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Absolutely nails. Unbelieveable. Hardest 65 miles ive ever ridden.

Averaged 12mph(don't laugh). Usually average 16-17mph on my own on 60 mile rides round north wales, but the gradients were sooo steep.

Was pleased that i got up swiss hill after all that climbing.

Nobody got up corkscrew except a guy on an MTB aparrently.

Would do it again.
