So, do the UN really need to have a women's section? What sorts of things do they need to do? Is it all women, with trivial problems, shrieking to be heard? Do men feel that this work is something that they are included in and welcome to help with?

It's not for the Western world but every where else where misogyny, is common place, seems a good idea.(waiting for the flaming)

Gender issues are in many ways similar to race or children's issues in that there are lessons to be learned and communicated across cultures and political spectra which may easily be overlooked by other agencies with their own specific focus interest. It should rightfully be called UN Gender but no doubt the inequity is virtually always in one direction so I can see why UN Women may be a more effective title.
