I'd like to get myst for my daughter but apparently it's a pig to run on windows 7 so are there any other more recent games that have the same kind of concept or gameplay?

Do you know whether there's a version of Myst that will run on current Mac operating systems? I have both Windows and Mac versions and neither will work on what I'm now using.

Have you tried using a virtual machine? If you've the original OS disk then you could set one up using that and then load Myst, Riven, etc.

No macs or ipads in the house! Just got an android tablet and laptop and though I quite enjoy geeking about with virtual machines etc I just don't have the time for that at the moment so really looking for more modern games with the same style of gameplay suitable for 8yr old kids.
I think Riven is also non win7.
