What a brilliant idea.

Hope UKC listens and introduces it!

Can we get negative stars for you and Lemming?
In reply to Blizzard:

It's a lousy idea, because it will drive away a lot of people, or make them afraid of saying anything remotely controversial. The politically correct will be favoured.

Black holes?

I don't like the sound of a star system - I think that sort of thing encourages divisiveness (even more than the spoutings of some posters). Plus I'm not sure that my waffer-theen skin could handle the disappointment of being anything less than five star.

What are the criteria?

An independent panel judging the quality of posts? An algorithm that assesses only spelling and grammar? A rating based on 'likes' (god help us)? Pure volume...?

If someone is a complete arsehole, but their opinions are so infuriating that they generate really good threads, are they 5* or 0* posters?

I expect the mods will have ways and means of bestowing a honorary 5 star postership upon you. Meritocracies are idealist nonsense.

Ditto, and it could become personal too.

Rubbish idea, I'm afraid. It will just get abused.

Can we have logbooks and comments too then?
"This poster has a couple of decent moves, but generally repetitive and dirty. Would get two stars with a bit of gardening"

Its a shit idea unless you want a site which comprises a bunch of backslapping cronies with no dissenting opinions allowed.

Well on your way to getting a negative star rating!

I toally agree with you: absolutely shit idea.

Nah - you know what climbers are like. Negative stars and black daggers will be a sign of glory.... and nothing would stop some people from saying controversial things.

For you, there would also be a small, sparkly crown, with jewels.

(oh - I do actually hate the idea by the way)

Why do you think it would be a good idea?

Surely a negative star is a black spot ? one of the most underused guidebook symbols IMO

What would be the point? What would you do with the information and or how would it change what/how you post?

Unless there was a long walk-in.

Oh I don't know - I'd walk a long way to enjoy your 3 stars x

In reply to tony:

Its an original idea, and there were changes a few months ago that I did get used to, and thought they were good.

I just thought I'd be rated, and you could see who the decent posters were. I already know who to steer clear of!

It might also give those less vocal, who make good postings a bigger profile.

I didn't think deeply about it like some of you.

Literally so many places I could take this analogy, and all of them rude. Think I will just graciously accept the compliment instead!

Not from me.
