Hi everyone,

so my car is making a really throaty noise on startup, as soon as the engine warms up the noise stops. and it only happens when the engine is cold.

I took it to the garage and the mechanic looked at the exhaust system and said there was no hole in the exhaust. he just said it was the ECG??? dumping gases, and was normal.. no way is that sound normal. what do people think??

Used to reburn the unburnt fuel in the exhaust gasses and feed warm air into the engine cylinders when engine is cold.


EGR valves can stick, are sometimes blanked off
