Rockfax
In reply to blackreaver:

Either...

If death choss on the Llyn is your bag go for Ground Up. If you like solitary VS adventures in Mid Wales go for Rockfax.

Both are great books, though I think the topos in the RF are better. Saying that in the four years I lived in North Wales I never struggled to find a route using the Ground Up guide.

Cheers,

Tom

I don't like the fact that the Ground Up guide is not very robust.
The Climber's Club individual guides are better and Ground Up should have a look at that idea of having a somewhat impermeable cover which is stiffer. The RockFax guides are slightly better on that score.
Rob

PS I still like the Paul Williams guide just because it's an old friend, even though the indexing is irritating.

My understanding is that there are >1000 routes in the Rockfax but only ~670 or something like it in the Ground Up? (this is just from googling and might be wrong). Doesn't mean they are better routes though :P
