Organise. Train. Inspire. Manage.
Climb.

Are you passionate about sport? Do you have the organisational and administrative skills to help run a well-equipped sports centre and outdoor adventure centre? And could you actively co-ordinate and supervise everything from swimming and fitness courses to outdoor climbing and high ropes activities? Then you could fit in perfectly at Caterham School.

As one of the country’s leading co-educational schools, we have created a superb Sports Centre that includes a 25 metre swimming pool, a fitness suite and a sports hall. There is also an open plan room with a server and covered external balcony where we can accommodate children’s parties, aerobics classes, corporate functions and much more. The result is an increasingly popular resource both for Caterham pupils and the wider community.

If you are looking to develop or indeed launch your career in sports centre management, this is an excellent opportunity to do so. You will work closely with the Sports Centre Manager to maintain and manage the pool, deliver staff lifeguard training, organise event timetables and ensure that our buildings, facilities and surroundings are always safe and well maintained. This will include responsibility for marketing and operating our Outdoor Adventure Centre, which offers a climbing wall and high ropes course. Liaising with our maintenance, grounds, caretaking and housekeeping teams will also be a vital part of your role, and you will use your initiative to organise and develop hire opportunities too.

To meet these challenges, you will need a powerful combination of administrative, organisational, leadership and physical training skills. Along with several years’ experience as a National Pool Lifeguard, for example, you will have a successful track record in an outdoor education role that includes practical climbing and high ropes activities. You will certainly have the confidence and credibility to manage others and build strong working relationships with the wider school team. The ability to coordinate resources and contribute to the operational and business efficiency of the Sports Centre is, of course, essential. Add to that your willingness to work flexible hours and contribute positively to the broader life of the school, and we can promise you first-class training, ongoing professional development and ample opportunity to grow as part of our forward-thinking team.

Caterham School is an HMC co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 18 years.
