I was on Skullduggery (7b) yesterday, great route but the hanger is missing from the first bolt. I was wondering if there's a reason it hasn't been replaced?

Probably because no one can be bothered to buy a 12 mm stainless steel hanger and a nut from a climbing shop and put it back on.

I thought that was probably the case (especially since the second - now first - bolt is no higher than first bolts on some other nearby routes), but there is the possibility that there's something wrong with the bolt and the hanger was removed deliberately. Unlikely, but possible!

The first hanger was cannibalised a few years ago because one of the hangers higher up came unscrewed and pinged off into the undergrowth when someone was sitting on a higher bolt. So the one from the first got taken to replace it.
