It certainly looks otherworldly but I'm no photography expert. What tells you it's a fake? Can you tell what's been done to it? Honest question - not a challenge of your opinion!

The link has stopped working for me but it looked like a composite image to me. The main giveaway is that the figure looked very sharp in what must have been a fairly long exposure...too long for the figure to be stood still enough to remain sharp!

I'd like to see it again, maybe I was just being a miserable git

Thanks both - very interesting. At least he's honest about how it was done. I presume the person really was on the top of that peak during the aurora though. That's the bit I'm jealous of. What a position to be in!

I assumed he had just run a local tone mapper over it and gone nuts with the curves rather than faked it as such.
