My Dad used to take me to see the downfall on windy days, just to see it blowing backwards. I've subsequently taken my son, and dozens of friends, up there to witness the same spectacle.
I think I must have been to the downfall over 50 times in all manner on conditions (I've even actually climbed on it when 'in'), but windy is my favourite.
My old man wouldn't make it up there now and that saddens me, but being there and remembering those times lifts me again. Usually on the return to Edale he'd stand me on the trig point for the obligatory photo, I repeated that last spring and sent him the photo (it's now my Facebook picture).
Thanks for starting this thread and sending me to sleep with a tear in my eye and a bucket full of wonderful memories.
