This is a superb piece of kit whether you’re climbing at altitude, whether you are exploring some of the colder regions of our world like Greenland, Iceland, or the polar regions or for that matter if you just feel the cold and you need something that is really going to keep it at bay, this is a brilliant piece of kit.

Using Pertex Endurance on the outside this is 30 denia seriously tough weight rip-stop fabric, its got a durable water repellent treatment on the outside at the same time as being highly breathable but its main qualities as the endurance name gives it away is that it’s really really robust; still being lightweight though this jacket comes in at 760g altogether.

800 fill European goose down with box wall baffle construction to keep the down separated but because it’s a box wall there’s no stitch row so there’s no cold points at any points.

Regarding the features of the jacket; the hood is climbing helmet compatible there is a Velcro volume adjuster at the back at the front a stiffened wire peak and draw cords at each side to pull it in snug around your face. It has rubberised Velcro cuffs, arms are pre-articulated for climbing, and scrambling, ease of movement basically; you get a fantastic reach with this jacket without the bottom riding up. There is a central water-resistant zipper and so do the hand warmer pockets which are nice and deep and as with all Rab down jackets and vests there is a designed stuff sac too. At the side there is an elasticated adjuster to pull it in snug around the hem. The cut of this jacket, it’s a super long cut designed to retain that core body warmth so it comes right down at the front and keep that same length as you go round to the back well below the bottom. Inside the jacket and opening the zip there is a down baffle behind to keep the cold spots out at the front and on the left hand side there is a zipped security pocket and on the right hand side there is a Velcro mesh pocket for your water bottle and anything else.
