Hi

I'm off to Nepal in just over a week to trek from Namche to Gokyo Ri. A couple of questions:

1) Anyone know what the mobile signal will be like?
2) My local trekking agency says it will provide a down jacket. Will it be any good or should I take my own?
3) Any other top tips?

We went to that area this time of year last year. Brilliant!! Great time to go.

Went independently, (which was a great call as might not be able to do that much more), so can't comment on your guided trip. There was a vast range of variability in the style of those guided trips. So who knows what your agent will supply.

We had fairly chunky down jackets (planning for the future), and surprisingly ended up wearing them while actually climbing a few hills. It was really cold near Gokyo.

If you feel fit try to get out as much as poss. We spent 8-11 hours outside each day -- by choice.
