The music is everywhere, EVERYWHERE.

Should I relent, and watch it?

Good god man, the film features a snow-bollard abseil, what more could you want!?

Unless you are a show-tunes kind of Lemming, it will surely have you trying to gouge out your own ear drums...
In reply to The Lemming:

It is very charming, but distinctly lacking in depth. Good soundtrack though. There are worse ways to spend an evening.

Actually not a terrible film. Good imagery for girls with powerful characters and end up saving the day without any help from the male characters.

Therefore also passes the Bechdel Test

1. It has to have at least two [named] women in it
2. Who talk to each other
3. About something besides a man

There is no way I am going to watch a sexist film

I watched it with my nieces. I accept the importance of them seeing a film with strong female characters. That does not alter the fact that the music is BLOODY AWFUL. And inescapable. Just when you think you might get a bit of plot someone starts BLOODY SINGING.

As for the role model stuff, it still revolves around the notion that the only women worth any attention are royalty, and that little girls should aspire to being a princess

It's a really good film, but some of the songs aren't the best.
In reply to The Lemming:

FFS, its a bloody animated film with catchy tunes. Dont over analyse. Plus it keeps my kids quiet for hours which is no bad thing.

If you want a cartoon with a plot, watch Watership Down.

Does it have a happy ending?
In reply to The Lemming:

Frozen, yes.
Watership Down, absolutely not.

Wonder if Disney could make at least one film with a bad ending?

Go on Disney, break the mould for once.

Not seen that either, however I believe that too is one of those feel good films with another happy ending.

They have. You were clearly not paying attention.

They also made quite a few films that were rather dark and scary in tone, though perhaps were resolved with "good" endings.
