Anyone seen it yet? I am going one evening next week and am hoping it will be good.

I have a general interest in WW2, but am particularly interested in Turing as he was a local man and lived in Hastings.

Hi Trangia,

Saw it at the weekend - Outstanding film and Benedict Cumberpatch is superb as Alan Turing. One of the best films I have seen in years.

Great! Thanks for that. Really looking forward to seeing it.

It's a watchable enough film in a Boy's Own sort of way, but it does not present a true picture of Turing's life - see this article http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/nov/20/the-imitation-game-invents-new-... .

You might wish to read that article after, not before, seeing the film.

Indeed.

Worth seeing, very well acted, pulls emotional strings quite effectively, but a bit naff in places. Such an extraordinary man, that a good documentary would probably have done a better job (and avoided the unnecessary historical inaccuracies.

certainly a very good film, but it is very filmy, indeed theatrical. Enjoyable but not offering great insight and hams up certain elements. Worth watching for sure.

Thanks all. Saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Benedict Cumberpatch , as someone said, was excellent
