Looking to invest in a new single Sports rope and hoping to get to Europe for some longer single pitches at some point so thinking 70m is the way to go.
Looking for something that handles well, reasonably hard wearing, so not super skinny but not a fat ship's hawser!
Any recommendations welcome and if anyone knows of any good deals running currently I'd love to hear about them.
Thanks, Ivan.

Beal Edlinger II (10.3mm or so) seems to be the workhorse at least where I live.

A spendier option is Beal Booster (9.7mm).

There's a good price on 70m 9,8 Beal Unicore here:

And even better price on 80m Edelrid rope:

My current workhorse is the edelrid hawk:

It's been through a fair bit of abuse and still handles well.

I like DMM stuff as you know... The above rope is the same as what we used on Portland last w/e (use the same model for work) although for a 70m I'd consider going for the New Breed @ 9.4mm

Edelrid Falcon 9.4mm. Handles great and wears very well. I think it's probably the best rope I've ever had. Not sure if you can still get them though as Bananafingers don't list it any longer. The 'Edelrid Eagle Light' 9.5mm looks like it's the the most similar.
In reply to The Ivanator: Since it has been mentioned by several people, I thought it worth pointing out that Rock and Run have Mammut Infinity at a good price http://www.rockrun.com/deals/climbing-ropes/mammut-infinity-9-5mm-x-70m
Also if you were so inclined you could probably get Go Outdoors to beat that price.

Another vote for the Infinity. It is worth bearing in mind that more and more routes are being bolted for 80m or 100m ropes.
