I'm just about to go back to contracting after a bit of a break. Last time I was lazy and went paye but I have a bit of time to get sorted now.
There are loads of online calculators that supposedly compare paye /umbrella / limited but none of them seem to ask for enough information to make a realistic prediction.
Any idea how much it would cost to get some decent advice? I'm not going to be eligible for higher rate tax but rack up a lot of milage (33k a year to and from the client site).

You'll get all the advice you need from Brookson or an Accountant? And for free cos they'll tout your business. Cost me a few years ago a couple of hundred quid only then an ongoing nominal fee IIRC.
Didn't Osborne promise a clamp on divis yesterday to nibble at the benefit of going limited a little?

I had missed that, I don't think I am likely to suffer from the IR35 regulations (or at least not for a few years). I had noticed that the most recommended products were also the most expensive

IMHO I would not get involved with brooksons, better to use a local firm with a nominated contact.

You need not pay for this kind of advice, a phone call with an accountant will answer this, then use the links above to verify their claims.

Remember to take account of the set up costs for Ltd company.

You can only claim mileage for 2 years if you travel to same site.

When I was looking into this I read that the point at which a limited company is worthwhile over an umbrella was around £40,000.
