So what are the longest wall climbs in the UK.. Most long routes in the UK being mountain routes. Lots of ledges and slabs... I really enjoy just having air beneath my ankles. So what are the longest steep walls in the UK?

Restricting it routes I've done, and taking your pointer re "air beneath my ankles" I would offer Coronation Street at Cheddar, and possibly Jelly Roll or Vember on Cloggy. But there'll be contenders on the main wall at Gogarth I suspect, and loads I'm sure in Scotland. The Scoop on Strone Ulladale could be the winner?

The Kame on the Isle of Foula, Shetland is apparently taller than St. John's Head, although not by much (26m).

Yes. Around the HVS-E1 mark there's Scavenger (fantastic, a bit of a mission, and actually all the good climbing is done in a single big pitch but it's still totally worth in and probably the best HVS in England and Wales), Pentathol (not done, looks rather hairy as in covered in green pubes) and Gogarth (historical but very wandering with only a couple of really good and not very long pitches), but these aren't really wall climbs. At E2 you've got Resolution Direct (which is decent but is really on the edge of the action and not fully satisfying IMO) and Hypodermic which is hard for the grade. The Assassin (E3 5c) is where the amazing, sustained wall climbing of Gogarth kicks in. I haven't done any of the harder routes, but then it gets to whole new level of steepness and aggression, I'm reliably informed. If only there were more routes like The Assassin, but across the grades.

But Gogarth (great though it is) is a pile of ledgy overgrown choss in comparison to Dun Mingulay!

[Edit: sorry, forgot to put all the links in using the nice new feature, won't let me go back and do it]
