Planning a trip next year and will most likely be based in Zermatt, I want to climb Liongrat route on the Matterhorn if weather allows, whats the easiest way to get from Zermatt to tackle the Liongrat route.

It's easy enough (but expensive) - take the lift to Klein Matterhorn and walk down the other side. You can use the Testa Grigia-Plan Maison lift downhill to save time. Then walk up to Carrel hut. You can make it there in a day from Zermatt. More details in Martin Moran's 4000m Peaks book. With more time to spare get the lift to Trockenersteg and walk the rest!

There's some advice on this post. It's pretty much as graham F says.
