Hi,
There are grants available for trips and you'd be surprised how few applications some of them get. In general there are more grants available for mountaineering type expeditions but some encompass rock climbing as well and many grants state that they want to support young climbers. There are a couple of lists that you can look through to see if your trip fits the grant criteria:
https://www.thebmc.co.uk/list-of-general-mountaineering-grants
Definitely look at the Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust for your trip
Also go through the Royal Geographical Society list to see if any apply to you:
RGS-IBG grants (many of which might not apply):
http://www.rgs.org/OurWork/Grants/Expedition+fieldwork+and+independent+trav...
But off this there is a difficult to find link which has the comprehensive list called 'other grant giving organisations for expeditions and fieldwork'
https://delicious.com/rgs_ibg/grant_giving_organisations?sort=alpha&ord...
And many other ways to get funding for trips but this should get you started.
I have funded many of my own expeditions through grants and sponsorship and I now run workshops on expedition planning in remote places and getting funding for expeditions. My next workshop will be at the Fort William Mountain Festival if you're up North when the festival is on.
Good luck with the expedition,
Becky
