We headed up for our first winter climb of the season this year and decided to head to Green Gully.

The conditions were fantastic. We had first time placements all the way up, some of the gear wasn’t brilliant due to this and the top belay above the last crux step was awful. The climbing was brilliant and the route was not banked out or stepped out at all which made the climbing much more enjoyable.

On the approach we saw a number of people heading up into Observatory Gully and reports from the CIC hut were that people climbed Point Five yesterday and reported it to be in good conditions. In Coire na Ciste there was a lot of hard mixed action going on, with some teams being successful and some having to back off due to cracks full of ice.
