Quite a few of us are heading to Wilton 4 this Saturday (10th), to complete the cleaning, which was started mid last year. It would be fantastic if more people can attend (less work, more climbing). We are meeting at 11 am, further information can be found on the FB page.

Hopefully, see you all there.

Cheers Tim

I'll definitely be there, some great routes and bouldering there, throughout the grades, good to see it getting some attention.

Looking good for Saturday. Don't forget to bring your gardening tools, spades/shovels, trimmers, secateurs/pruners and anything else you think of. See you all there.
In reply to Timothy Greenhalgh:

Just for you Elliot.

Should be good fun! I know most people will be there whatever the weather - a big team will really make a difference in getting the quarry ship-shape for the next decade.

Just thought I'd mention, as the biggest job we have involves digging back top outs, it would be great if everyone could bring spades or mattocks. Bring spares if you have them, that way people without can still get stuck in. Many hands make light work...

Looking forward to the cake!

Bump. It's tomorrow! All welcome!

Free tea and coffee (bring water and a mug), free cake, possibly a bbq, and a hut to shelter in.

See you there...

Hut to shelter in, from too much sun!

Just want to say a massive thank you for all attending. A special thanks, Rick, Robin, Dave Mann for making a start last year and for inputting their enthusiasm into this forgotten quarry. Lost track of how many people where there, but think we had around 34. Loads was done, top-outs cleared, bottoms level off and routes cleared from VDiff to E5. Still a little bit to do, so will try to finish it off in the near future, so everybody can enjoy this fantastic crag. A big thank you to the BMC for providing all the tea, coffee and cakes, and valued support in organising this event. Now all it needs is to see some action, so think we will have a big meet in a couple of months, so watch this space. Thanks everybody, Tim.

Just been up there today. Only managed one route b4 shooters arrived. Just the one shooter and he was a very friendly chap and said he didn't mind if we carried on climbing, because of the type of gun which he said wouldn't pose any danger to us. Anyway we moved to brownstones because we wanted to move to routes behind the shooting range, which we obviously couldn't.
Just a heads up though, where top out were cleaned there is still loose rock as I saw a few large chunks come down with the high wind.
Anyway its looking much better and just needs the attention that it deserves!
Elliot.

Cheers for organising, Tim! And Rick for liasing with the gun club and acquiring stakes. It was a great day out with plenty of cake and good cheer.

I reckon most of the tops will need a quick brush when dry, but we made a massive difference. There are still a few bits to be done, but I'm sure loads of us will be back this summer to get on these routes and problems, so it should be a vintage year for Wilton 4.
