Jordan Buys on Another World 7C+, 4 kbWhat with the new Lancashire Bouldering guidebook and the anticipation of a forthcoming BMC trad guidebook (next year we hope), 2014 was a busy year for Lancastrian climbers. For decades, Lancashire has been something of a sleeping giant. This year, the beast has stirred.

That'll be the Stony Edge in Yorkshire then?

Must get up there

Haha, technically yes. But it'll take you a lot longer to get there if you walk in from the Yorkshire side!

Excellent article..brings Lancashire back to the forefront of British climbing...as it should be!!!
Just to inform all the the new BMC guide WILL be out this year..80% of the crags are now in photo-diagram form, with all the crag shots taken..and the final scripts are being edited, to fit the diagrams as I write.
Once the BMC peak limestone guide is out @ Easter , then its full steam ahead...or should that be "full crank" ahead at "BMC Towers" to get Lancs out by the Summer.
Please note that we are still looking for interesting and action photos, around the Lancs crags, especially the less known crags but anyone who has any that they think are suitable please get in touch...or just remember to take yourcamera to the crag
Cheers

Cheers Nick, glad you enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see what next year brings. Many more bouldering projects to do, and still a fair few routes. It would be nice to see standards in Lancs move forward, but even nicer to see more people making use of the massive amount of rock. It's definitely started to happen with the bouldering, and I hope the new bmc guide renews national interest in the routes.

Great news that the guide is on its way! I've already sent a few shots to Les, but it would probably be a good idea to organise a photo-fest when the dry weather rolls in again.
