Thought he said Dawn Walk for a second and was most impressed at martin Crocker managing to get a spot on R4 for this vintage expedition. Jon Humphrey amazed at waiting to grow fingertips. Climbing is not like other sports apparently. We may be getting daily updates!

A Monty Python-style multi-night siege of Dawn Walk coordinated with events in Yosemite would be quite amusing. UBMC, where are you?

Just saw a segment on commercial TV news here in Oz. Word is getting out :p

Got a mention of R5Live as well.

Martin Crocker? it was John Long, who did a really good job in the face of ridicule and stupidity coming from John Humphries.

It amazes me how serious journalists seem to disengage their brains when discussing climbing on the radio.

John Long was great - but what would he have said to Humphries in the days when he looked like this - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0c/Stone_Masters_in_front_o... ??
In reply to Alan James - Rockfax:
Using Martin Crockers name was a joke linked to the fact that Dawn Walk is a climb in Avon Gorge and Martin has been working his finger tips to the bone (see what I did there) promoting Avon to the public.

I'm not sure I'd describe Humphrys (DM columnist) as a "serious journalist"these days...but I actually found him quite amusing. It's perfectly fair to be incredulous at the idea of climbing for days on coin edges until your fingertips have worn through and then waiting for the skin to grow back until you can start again - and it provided insight into what this kind of climbing entails.

It was; and Humphries seemed impressed enough to invite him back.
