Hi,
I have used a Northface Downpour jacket for years for hill walking and found it very good.

I am now looking to replace this jacket, and am looking for one that would be even more waterproof (after 2 – 4 hours constant rain), but still have some of the good features of this jacket such as

• Longer length (30”) which covers bum (or most of)
• Collar which has soft brushed lining
• Hood which is small and fits well without a helmet
• Flap over centre main zip
• Reasonably light, less than 650 grams but not too light such as Paclite so probably more than 450 grams
• Durable so probably 3 layer Gortex possibly Pro
• Slim fit
• Preferably Gortex as it requires less care or treatment than some of the other materials

I am not looking for the cheapest jacket…… but rather the best waterproof jacket that has the above features.

The Mountain Equipment Kongur looks good in reviews….. but the hood looks quite big.

I tried on the Northface Point Five NG which is Gore Tex Pro but it has no collar, so one needs to wear a layer beneath it for that cosiness/warmth.

Shops are very limited in the rural area where I live so I am trying to narrow my search before I get a chance to go to Dublin.

Any advice or recommendations?

Thanks in advance,
Dave
