Yes, I saw this and mentioned it on the dawn wall news thread. It's turned into a real media event. Leo H was very good I thought. Nice to hear someone who knows what he's talking about explaining things such as free climbing on mainstream TV.

Article on BBC website also this morning.

Great little interview that-knowledgeable and informative but pitched well for the general public too.
In reply to Otis:

It was a good little piece, certainly better than some over the last week or so. They do only get a very short time though and it is difficult for the interviewers to get past the 'sleeping on the wall' and 'skin wearing out' topics.

I thought Leo missed a trick at the end. The interviewer asked "is that something you'd like to do" and I am pretty sure she was referring to the basic idea of climbing El Cap. Leo replied (understandably) as if she was asking if he would like to repeat the Dawn Wall which obviously is a different question, especially for Leo who has an outstanding record of hard ascents on El Cap.

I was surprised to read in the BBC news link that they were using their hands and feet! What else were they supposed to use.

Are they climbing this right now? Surely it's deep winter in Yosemite? I don't understand.

I didn't see the 8:50am interview but in the earlier one at 7:50am, Leo stated he'd previously climbed El Cap, so I think she may possibly have been talking about DW.

Yes, you are probably right. I didn't realise they did it twice. They phoned me yesterday (along with half a dozen other radio stations etc.) and were just after someone for the 8:50 slot.
