South Africa/ Namibia.
Scope for travelling as well as walking/ climbing.
- Climb in Cape province.
- Or walk one of the long-distance coastal paths in the Western Cape.
- Or hire a local guide and walk the 85km from Hobas to Ai-ais through Namibia's Fish River canyon (Africa's 'Grand Canyon'.)
- Or hire a 4x4 and drive the length of Namibia's starkly beautiful Skeleton Coast.
- Or climb on huge granite monoliths in the desert at Namibia's Spitzkoppe.
- Or go ostrich tracking/ hunting with San bushmen in the Kalahari (privately arranged and one of the most amazing things I've ever done.)
- Or visit the Drackensberg; independently hire a mountain guide from a local guides' co-op, climb some big mountains and (as with all of the above) generally spread some western wealth around.
£2K and 2 weeks should be enough for any of the above.
Some food for thought if nothing else.
