I am looking to go travelling for a while (minimum 6 months) in November with the main focus being centered around climbing. I have recently been to Thailand and love the thought of climbing there due to its beautiful surroundings in areas such as Railay,Ton Sai,Ko Yao Noi,Chaing Mai and Nam Pha Pa Yai. I would like to travel all around Asia and possibly even Australia/New Zealand or the US. I will be looking to do sport climbing when I go but will be doing the trip solo so may have to stick to bouldering in certain places.
Has anyone done anything like this before ON THEIR OWN? Are there any particular places in those that I have mentioned that are easy to meet fellow climbers/partners so that I can get on the big walls? I would hate to take all my gear to the other side of the world only to find no partner to allow me to climb! I suppose the main question is where are the most climber friendly places in the world with good quality climbing and friendly communities?
