Cold Mountain Kit, 3 kb

On Friday the 23rd of January our new shop at 44 Tower Bridge Road was burgled. Thieves have stolen all of our camming devices, locking carabiners, ice axes, a large amount of our work, rescue and rigging gear and more. We are still assessing the loss, but an early estimate puts it at over £25,000. Until we can log exactly what we do and don't still have we have closed the shop and suspended internet sales. We hope that we'll be able to resume normal trading soon, so please bear with us. If you live in the London area and see or hear about anyone trying to sell climbing equipment that is at all suspicious, please either get in touch with us or report it directly to the Police. We will update our site and also our social media with any developments.

That's a real shame, I've been buying a lot of my kit from them lately so am very disappointed to hear this. I'll keep my eyes and ears open, and hope they get back on their feet soon.
In reply to UKC Gear:

Can't say I knew there was an alternative to the big 2 in London. Will be dropping by when I need some gear for sure.

Sorry to hear that. It might be worth posting on the Rigg Access site too.

What should we be looking out for brands-wise, especially on high value items, at least that way could we report them if they come up on eBay or whatever?

Hi and thanks everyone for your continued support, it has absolutely reinforced our love for the climbing community and made this whole awful event much more bearable. Cheers for all of the suggestions on this thread. Alex has written a blog which has a more detailed report of the break-in plus a round-up of the items that were stolen, but we are still compiling the fully detailed list. http://www.coldmountainkit.com/blog/369-cold-mountain-kit-burgled-but-back-...

Here's the basics to watch for plus key items that we think are in limited supply in the UK or are new enough that they shouldn't be available at silly prices:

- All camming devices:
including full range of sizes of BD C4s, DMM Dragons, Totem cams and Totem Basic cams, BD X4s, Metolius Master Cams, Wild Country Zeros and more. Key items to watch for: all of the Totems, CAMP Ballnuts, CAMP Tricams (I bet they have noooooo idea what these are for!).

- All quickdraws:
including DMM Phantoms, Alpha Trads, Alpha sports, Spectre 2s, Thors, BD Posiwire and Austri Alpin Rockits. Key items: the new Petzl Spirit QDs 11/17cm

- Almost all karabiners:
including BD Magnetrons, DMM Belay masters, Ovals, Revolvers, Phantom snap gates, Wild Country. Key items: Rock Exotica (very unusual brand in the UK).

- All ice axes:
including the full range of DMM axes, Petzl Charlet Quarks, BD Vipers. Key Items: DMM Switch ice axe pair

- Ice screws:
including the new DMM ice screws and Petzl Laser Sonic, BD Express and more. Key items: the new DMM Revolutions

- A huge amount of work and rescue stuff:
including Petzl ID’s, Rigs, ASAPs, ASAP locks and Petzl Vertex and Vertex Vent helmets. Plus other brands like ISC and Rock Exotica. There are serialised items including specialist Beam Clamps, pulleys and ascenders of all shapes and sizes. Key items: the new DMM Catch fall arrest, and the ISC D4 and the Rock Exotica load cell (as far as we know one of a couple in the UK).

- Haul bags, rope bags and rucksacks from DMM, Blue Ice, BD. Key items: the new DMM bag range plus BD Touchstone and Metolius Half Dome haul bags.

We are open and up and running again (obviously with depleted stock) and will be restocking over the next few weeks. And we ABSOLUTELY still want to celebrate our opening, it will of course be a smidge delayed, more likely late March but it would be great to see you there so we can thank you in person. News about that will go on our FB page and blog.

To everyone who has called us, messaged us, popped into the shop to say hi or bought stuff from us over the last week (there's still two commemorative quickdraws left!) again, you are awesome, thank you!
