I'm pleased to see that Sir Chris Bonington is to receive the seventh Piolet d'or Carrière, the Lifetime Achievement Award. That's very thoroughly deserved; what an immense inspiration he continues to be.

Saw him earlier on the one show I think repeating his "great climb" at 80 years old. Worth looking it up on iplayer

Very thoroughly deserved indeed - have seen him on stage a few times and based on his merits it was just a matter of time tbh.. he is a true pioneer and legend (in my opinion)
