Morning all. Off to the Lakes this weekend for our club's annual dinner. Question: for those of us not equipped for or interested in scratching around on the frozen stuff, is there likely to be any climbable rock anywhere? shortish routes on a valley crag perhaps? any suggestions from those in the know gratefully received, thanks.

Freezing level is possibly around 200m over the weekend last time I looked.

However I've climbed on low crags in the the S / SW like wallowbarrow or stonestar in the duddon valley this time of year, or chapel head scar by witherslack.

last resort....st bees?

yeah I did wonder about St Bees - climbed there before once in December, managed one route while watching a rainstorm approaching off the sea, and almost got to the top before it hit

I would normally say Raven Crag Langdale in amost any weather but today it would be hard going

In the end we found some dry (cold!) rock at Shepherd's Crag, Borrowdale, and also enjoyed a fantastic walk over Great Gable. top weekend.
