Not sure what this story is suggesting, that the data has been lost, highly improbable, or that the devices containing sensitive (presumably to the Police) information have been lost in the mail? Why would any government body handling high level sensitive information trust it in the post. Encrypted secure network? DHL too expensive? Just thinking aloud really.

It might well have been lost in Internal Mail and not in the Royal Mail as perhaps implied in the story.
Still not very good to lose such data though!!!
