Just been on BBC news. Never seen as much climbing on mainstream TV....Chris B on the one show, Yosemite etc.

So that's who it was - saw a brief clip on French TV news yesterday evening but the sound was right down as my partner was on the phone & I had no idea who the climbers were.

Oh jees, now every time a North American climber scrapes ice off the windscreen will they be thinking... 'Is it in yet?'

Is it a first ascent though? I thought Niagara Falls was climbed last year during the "polar vortex". Or am I mistaken?

Thats how a climbing video should be done, short and sweet.

Just wish he could have made it look a BIT tricky.

In reply to earlsdonwhu:

The easiest line looks pretty straightforward. When I went there, I could see how you could do it at about IV. I suspect legal issues are the biggest problem!

You ain't wrong Toby .

Bit of a commentary on it by Andrew Bisharat.

In reply to TobyA:
May be so but the line Gadd does certainly isn't IV, even without the cutting loose bit!

 George Ormerod 31 Jan 2015
In reply to Misha:

Shame there's virtually no mention of his partner on the route, Sarah Hueniken, who is possibly Canada's best female winter / mixed climber.

In reply to Misha:

W16 according to article cited above.

In reply to neilwiltshire:

Another large fall nearby it came in last winter and there was speculation over a winter ascent of Niagara Falls but it wasn't actually it.
OP Michael Ryan 03 Feb 2015
In reply to Michael Gordon:

Niagra falls was climbed last year: a different climber, different line, top roped.
