It's my sons birthday in May & I'm saving now. Thinking of getting him a graphics tablet to use with his computer. Anyone know of a good one? Where to buy?

Is this for drawing? If so, see detailed review of brands (and therefore technologies) here:

I've got a Wacom intuos 3. The A3 size. Big one.

Nothing wrong with a little bamboo". And cheap too.

Does anyone know if the Wacom will work with Ubuntu?
I'd like to buy one but I'm not convinced it'll work with my system.

I've used a Wacom Graphire for years on Debian.
In the early days it required a bit of knowledge to get working correctly - On the most recent release of Debian with Gnome 3 it required that I did nothing at all.
Worked out of the box. There is nice little 'Wacom Graphics Tablet' tab in my settings screen if I want to change the way anything works.

No experience of the newer (wireless) offererings, but Wacom support Linux development. http://us.wacom.com/en/developerrelations/linux/

I would google whichever version of Ubuntu you are using and the model name of the specific tablet you are wanting before making a final judgement.

I had on a while ago and went for a large A3 size, as we all know size isn't everything and if I was buying again would probably go for the smaller A5 size.

They leave you more desk space for papers, pens, keyboard and mouse and work just as well.

I have this one:

It's genuinely excellent, and doubling as a trackpad means I use it instead of a mouse. Best used plugged into the computer, not wireless.

Thanks for the reply, I'm confident enough now.
