Has anyone got any good contacts for buying flight tickets to india/Asoa that may be not quite the norm....ie fly to one city and back from another, or long 6 month+ returns?
I used to use Southall Travel but they seem incapable of replying to emails in the usual fashion and have come to the conclusion that they are not quite what they were

er, Asia that should be

Have you tried the BA website? Worth a try, at least - they certainly allow returns from another city, and 6 months+.

However I've been shouted at and mocked on UKC in the past for making similar suggestions, so I'll say again - it worked for me, try it if you like and good luck.

Most airline websites allow this. Different cities as well. 6 months in hell. Good luck.

What's the issue with just buying one way tickets?

For internal India flights and train bookings clear trip is your best easiest to use but still cheap option

In reply to abseil:

ok, i shall try individual airlines sites...thanks for that

no issue, its just that there are so many options when flying to india that i have found that a good travel agent can really help to find the best deal

i love india
In reply to Kimono:

Yeah, we booked all our own flights and trains etc... Used Cleartrip, can take a while to set up but worth it for the independence it gives you.
OP Kimono 20 Feb 2015
In reply to Kimono:

what is Cleartrip Siddhartha? Is for all indian travel??
In reply to Kimono:

We've been using Trailfinders for twenty years, and have always found them to be useful.

i can already see that CT is very indian! Every time i set the currency to sterling, it just ignores this and resets it to rupees.
Ah, i had forgotten the 'joys' of indian websites

In reply to Kimono:

I've found TrailFinders to be very good in the past, if not necessarily the cheapest - certainly sorted us out for a 3-week jaunt around Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand.

Have you tried STA? They specialise in student travel/gap years, so should be able to help.
In reply to Kimono:
Hi Kimono yeah, the site & process certainly has it's foibles. But looking at your last statement, then I guess you have had dealings already!

Maybe, but that shouldn't be a barrier to booking flights through them - I booked my flights to Australia with them last year and I'm in the same boat as you.

Care to let me in on the secret? They used to be good....many moons ago

Southall are cheap but expect Indian levels on customer service from them!

Expedia, ebookers and kayak let you search for multi-city flights. Try ITA Matrix for something more advanced with loads of flexibility in terms of dates and nearby airports.

Filter through skyscanner first.

Extremely poor customer service and a bad attitude.
