I'm off to Scotland next week and have the next day or two to select a sleeping bag. I've been scouring forums and ebay for second-hand down bags but not come up with anything yet. I've had a few people advise synthetic for Scotland due to the incessant damp, but I also agree that a down bag can be kept dry if used correctly.
Given that, is anyone aware of a really really good deal on a light synthetic or down bag at a very reasonable discount? I'd like to spend as much below £150 as humanly possible and need the bag to be capable in very cold conditions. We plan to to the Ring of Steall, Aonach Eagach ridge, and the Mullardoch Round as a three day camping trek. I have a lot of the necessary gear but a sleeping bag is proving tricky!
