Does anyone know anything about this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-31610720 ?

It would be good to get some climbers along to ensure that the significance of the place as a climbing venue is understood.

It might have been useful to have known about these workshops slightly more in advance. Or had they been advertised previously somewhere?

Looking at that article I'd say it was pretty important for the SMC/MCoS to get involved so that the climbing lobby carries some weight. A bit late for the SMC at these workshops though? For individuals get yoruselves registered at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/seeing-things-differently-dumbarton-rock-cha...

This is the first I've heard about it, although a quick google reveals this on the council's website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-31610720

I'll try and get along tonight or tomorrow night. Have texted John Watson who might already be aware of it.

I pretty sure there are climbers in the loop on this one.

I'm hopeful that we might see a bit of landscaping and TLC that will enhance bouldering there.

It might be a pain if there is a closure during any works... however the new artificial boulders at Cuningar may ease that pain.

> Future vision
> A charrette is an interactive design workshop, in which the public, local professionals and stakeholders work directly with a specialised design team to generate a specific community masterplan.

It's time to worry when an article has to explain the meanings of words to the reader. Pretentious claptrap. I mean, what's wrong with a good old atelier?

In reply to jon:

Always thought a charrette was a type of cart but checking a French dictionary I see there is a second meaning of group of qualified people

But when did Dumbarton become French speaking ?
 Fraser 26 Feb 2015
In reply to Doug:

I think the term will have come from the architects involved. (It's semi-popular in the archi-luvvies circle.) A 'workshop for all interested parties' would have been just fine. Au revoir!
