I am looking at heading out to font this year with a couple mates, getting the Eurostar to Paris, and then from there the train to Fontainebleau. Problem is, we're looking to stay in the camp site in Milly-la-foret (la musardiere), which would be impractical to do on foot from central font. I was just wondering if anyone had experience in travelling from font to milly via any form of public transport and had any information of cost/frequency etc. due to the lack of driving experience in the group, we would not be ablr to rent a car.
Thanks.

You can take the bus (Fontainebleau train station / SNCF is located in Avon). It's a bus for students (it means that it doesn't work during the holidays) :

In fact the nearest station isn't Fontainebleau but Maisse, some 6 km away. Its on the suburban RER ligne D which you catch either at Gare du Nord or Gare de Lyon. But there's no bus service so you'd have to walk (quite pleasant along a GR for much of the way) or find a taxi.

But there are other campsites nearer to railway stations such as At Bourron Marlotte (information on several other threads) - these are slightly further from the climbing areas but still manageable without transport

Brill thanks a lot, train to Maisse is far more practical! Never mind the short walk!
