I am looking at the North Wales Rock Ground Up guidebook and see that a lot of routes are labelled with ®. What does that mean? Does this mean rappel off for decent?

Possible bird ban / seasonal Restriction?

Is there no legend in that book?

In reply to CL1MB0N:

It signifies restrictions of some sort. Normally bird bans.

It means the first ascensionist has registered the route as trade mark and you need to pay a royalty if you want to climb it.

But that would be ™ then.
In reply to Andy Hardy:

climbing restriction - consult the BMC RAD (regional access database) for up-to-date info as all guidebooks are out-of-date as soon as they go to print!
