Car insurance renewal coming up.

Has anybody actually benefited from having bought legal cover.

Or is it just an add on that not worth bothering with?

In reply to Rick Graham:
You might find you've got it on your house insurance.

In reply to Rick Graham:

My mother lost out through not having it. I forget the details but it was something like minor damage that was someone else's fault couldn't be reclaimed from the other insurance company because they insisted on a legal claim letter that would cost more to pay a lawyer to produce than it would have recovered. Legal cover would have covered this. Don't know if it pays long term - well no insurance does, but you know what I mean

So don't buy it twice, fair enough. Thanks Andy.

But is it still worth buying once?

In reply to Rick Graham:

I always buy it - only used it once. Snowy school drive and I was stationary and woman skidded into me - apologised, said she was in a rush to pick her child up and gave me her phone number/details to sort it out later. When I phoned, the husband (who wasn't there at the time) said it was knock for knock.
I handed it over to the insurance/solicitors, got my car fixed and no claims preserved and the other team paid for it. Would have been pretty tricky otherwise,

Chris
