Hello all.

My laptop has been infected with adware and I'm getting popups all the time, despite having avast anti virus and a program called malwarebytes (I don't know if these are any good... probably not I'm assuming!) I've scanned with both these programmes and the problem persists... slower laptop/popups/loads of ads on google.

How can I get rid of this shight?

Cheers!

Some adware takes the form of a browser extension. If you say which browser you're using, someone will tell you how to check/remove browser extensions.

Are you getting unwanted popups/ads anywhere other than your web browser?

Thanks for the reply.

Ah OK. I'm using chrome and no the ads are just within the browser.

Have a look through the Programs list in Programs and Features from the Control Panel. List by date and remove anything installed recently that looks a bit dodgy.

Might not completely fix the problem but it's a good place to start

Check that the adware didn't alter your browser shortcut. In most browsers you can alter the startup page by just adding the address to the shortcut and a lot of malware uses this to reinstall itself after malwarebytes or whatever has removed it.
