Andy Parkin, 4 kbThis week's Fri Night Vid is a harrowing short film from from Mountain Equipment. Here's what they say:

"Victor Saunders, Andy Parkin and Susan Jensen, Divyesh Muni and Vineeta Muni originally set out in August 2013 with the objective of making the first ascent of Plateau Peak (7,287m) in the East Karakoram. On the 14th Victor, Andy and Susan were camped on the glacier about one and a half kilometres from Saser Kangri II, when at 10pm a massive avalanche swept down its north face. The blast from the leading edge hit the camp with such force that in just a few moments the British team team faced a completely new challenge..."

That's a pretty horrifying story.

As for flouting local laws, asking for trouble...

Let's hope the Indian authorities don't see the film and await Mr Parkin's return.
