Hi folks,

How would I start learning how to paraglide? I would like to learn abroad and I dont want to spend a shit load of money! Anyone been to popular destinations such as Bulgaria for beginner courses? Any advice would be great

I learnt to fly back in the '90s with Northern Paragliding (Yorkshire Dales) and they were great. However I don't think they still offer training.

One of the instructors around the scene at the time was a guy called Ian Brown (IIRC) who I think went on to start Sunsoar Paragliding. They seem to offer the kind of trips that you've mentioned.

All this info could be a bit out of date (or just plain wrong) - been a few years...

Good luck!

Once you're hooked, you'll find the expense is not in the kit, but in the fuel you'll burn up chasing conditions!

I learned to fly in Wales (far too many days trekking to the top of a hill only to find the wind was wrong). I used to work with Brett Janaway (XTC Paragliding) and he certainly knows his stuff and runs courses is in Spain and Slovenia so I would suggest you check out his website.

I learned in Chamonix - was remarkably cheap. About 350 euro for the week's course.
