The next BMC NW Area meeting will be held at 19:30 on Monday 20th April 2015 at the Black Dog, Belmont.

Come along to our gathering of North West climbers and walkers to discuss the latest issues and get involved in the work of the BMC. All are welcome.

The development of a NW area policy document on the replacement of fixed gear and bolted lower offs (an extension/revision of the guidance on fixed gear replacement that was previously agreed) will again be discussed. An initial proposal was documented for the last meeting and can be accessed in the documentation for that meeting (see BMC community website). An alternative proposal is anticipated.

Other topics of particular note will be notified here and added to the agenda as they become known. If there are topics you wish to have discussed please let us know.

As usual, sandwiches and chips will be provided by the BMC so it should be a good night out. With a decent turnout it will provide a good opportunity to meet up with some mates.

Documentation for the meeting (Agenda, minutes, gear replacement proposals) can be found on the NW Area meetings pages of the BMC communities website (http://community.thebmc.co.uk/ ).
In reply to harold walmsley:

Les Ainsworth has produced a decision flow chart for fixed gear replacement based on the initial proposal document. It can be viewed in the meeting documents. An alternative proposal is still anticipated.

Other topics now added for discussion at the meeting are: bolting or debolting in four specific cases (see Agenda on BMC website for details), the provision of a group abseil point in Anglezarke to discourage groups from going down worthwhile routes, possible guidebook discounts for clubs that pre-order in bulk, and Dave Cronshaw's Hon BMC membership.
In reply to harold walmsley:

A further topic on the timely submission of documents on complex or contentious issues in advance of future meetings has been added. The idea being that if documents can be posted for study at least a week ahead of a meeting it will enable more informed decision making than the rapid scanning of a complex document during a meeting .
In reply to harold walmsley:

The alternative gear replacement proposal and the associated decision flow chart have now been received and posted on the meeting webpage.
