Folks, I was recently climbing outside in Ratho Quarry, and noticed there is a lot of industrial ‘rubbish’ around the quarry floor. Its the first time I've been there, but most of this appears to be waste from the construction or maintenance of the climbing centre.

Whilst Ratho quarry may not be up there with some of the great Scottish wilderness crags areas in terms of outlook and ambiance, the quantity of rubbish is unacceptable in my opinion.

So I was going to write to the centre asking if they planned cleaning it up. In fact, I'm surprised local climbers haven't sorted it out already?

But before I did, I wondered what the situation is re climbing in the quarry? If the quarry belongs to the centre and they are turning a 'blind eye' to folk climbing there, then I would be inclined to just leave it be, rather than stir anything and jeopardise climbing there for the future?

Just interested in folks thoughts.....

cheers

I think they'd be happy to speak with you about this in person. And no harm in gently asking next time you're there.

Danny
