I am gonna be in the lakes next week. Should fit a session or two of bouldering in. I am aiming to push my grade and have made strength gains on indoor training over the winter. Previously 7a was pretty much my limit so looking for something around that grade with decent landings. Any suggestions?

Sounds exciting, but sadly I've dumped behind more boulders than I've ever climbed. There are plenty of obvious ones in either of the Langdales or Bowderstone etc.

Depends where you're based. St Bees in the west, Langdale boulders in the Ambleside area, Bowderstone and Carrock near Keswick.

Take a look at http://www.lakesbloc.com basically an excellent free online guide to the area with printable pdfs of almost every venue.

If you've got time, go to St Bees 'cause it's awesome, as in best in UK:

Personally I find stuff like the Bowderstone not fun in any way, but some people love it. Carrock Fell is good but I found the problems that looked really good (classic V5 Boardman's Problem and a "V4" variation) on the big boulder impossible while the rest is pretty mediocre. Couldn't recommend a 7a there. Not been to Langdale, classic (but it is two boulders).

That video is great - thanks - staying in Ennerdale for a week over Easter so also interested in this topic!
Op: bowderstone is good IMHO and can stay dry in some rain, but not so picturesque.

If you're staying in Ennerdale, why not go bouldering in Ennerdale?

Home to quite possibly the best 7B+ in the country.
