Hi. I know the answer is normally 'duct tape', but this is my young teenage sons fashion item - a North Face Quince (I think). The hole is small, but down is coming out. Any ideas for a more aesthetic repair?

from my experience the clear tape is far better than the coloured tape. It has survived soaking and washing for me.

I've used sail tape successfully before. I'm not sure how well it will stand up to being washed though.

I think Cotswold Outdoor do it

or this one...which I have personally tried on a Paramo and it is still sticking after 1 year

Depends how small the hole actually is, but if it's bigger than a match head, one thing I've done successfully is push a small piece of duct or other good tape *through* the hole to the inside then delicately manipulate it so that it sticks over the hole from the inside. If it's a small angle tear then you need to make sure the edges are lined up before they're stuck down properly.

Then I usually put a tiny smear of SeamGrip over the top to seal it, but on some jobs this has not proven necessary. Do it right and it's almost invisible, even for a tear of an inch or so.

Have Tenacious Tape on the base of a rucksack for about 18 months now. Still going strong.
Also have it on an L shaped rip in down sleeping bag that's about 3 inches from end to end.
Great stuff to have about
