Does anyone know what the conditions are like on the North Ridge Scramble on Tryfan please (this week)?

I'm wanting to go on Monday and need to know if it is icy/snow covered. Will take winter kit anyway.

Kind regards
Nick

I'm afraid there is no one on here qualified to tell you what the conditions will be like in the future. You need a fortune teller for that. ;])

In reply to sylwia: Or you could see what Ogwen area looks like on the webcams and make a decision on that

Dry and sunny today.

You won't need winter kit.... Unless things change dramatically.

Very wet last few days - surrounding land is very squelchy - but lovely sunshine today.

A few small patches of snow remain on a few of the Snowdonia summits but can't see any on Tryfan, and highly unlikely to be ice - ground temperature is stable around 3 degrees and air temp today has reached 10 degrees at 850m - see https://www.thebmc.co.uk/idwal

Forecast (MWIS) is for more warm sunny days tomorrow and Monday - enjoy it - might well see you up there!

There was no ice or snow on the tops of the Gliders or on Y Garn today, even very early before the sun came up. HTH SS

Went up the North ridge on Thursday. No snow at all and small areas of verglased rock in last 100 metres but nothing that required winter gear. I had crampons and axe but they were totally unnecessary. Your call based on the forecast since Thursday whether you take them but I very much doubt they're necessary.
