Either or, there are plenty of good options for both.
Camping is obviously a little cheaper and easier to organise, especially for larger groups. Gites tend to be pricier but are more comfortable, especially if the weathers crap.
In reply to remus: Cheers. I have the possibility to move out there into house no longer used by my wife's family. Am looking at the option of turning the lower floor into a gite. Could offer airport transfers, bikes and kayaks for rest days and local climbing knowledge.
