People seem obsessed these days with their political representatives matching those they represent in observable ways - women representing women, Sikhs representing Sikhs, gays representing gays etc. I can't say I particularly agree - it seems to me that they're all humans representing humans.
However, given that the phenomenon appears to exist it strikes me as odd that more isn't made of the fact that ordinary people will happily vote for "arrogant posh boys" to quote Ms Dorries, and expect them to represent their interests.
